He's great. Like others alluded to an idea guy. Check out http://www.showstudio.com for a project he started with Nick Knight.
Some of his older factory work is outstanding. The Blue Monday sleve story (can be seen in 24 Hr Party people for example) is the stuff of ledgend. Not to mention that for the time, it was a work of genius.
Vaughn Oliver is another great from that period. Rick Poyners book on him is def worth picking up. You see the progression of his typographic style from early experimentation to the godlike work in the 90's 4AD stuff.
