I did a google seearch when I was designing my invoice, just to see what exactly should be included on an invoice, then I tackled it just like any other project. Think about what you need. Your address, invoice number, tax ID number, date, etc. You need a place to put what the charges are. What you're billing them for. Keep in mind this is probably something that will get faxed and/or photocopied.
I set mine up as a PDF that has editable fields, so I can change what I need to, and print it right out.
Do a google search and you'll definately find something on it, then get creative. Designer are problem solvers! Treat it like any other project.
