    JasonX is on the right track, but there is some wrong information here.

    The usage price is determined by the artist and can be much more expensive than those numbers.

    Copyrights expire after 50 years, but they can be renewed and often are. Don't grab something old and think its your's to use.

    You need to go to http://www.ascap.com You should find the resources you need there. They used to have a database of all composers and material. I've been a member of ASCAP for years - they are extremely nice and easy to work with. If you can't find the info on their site - call them. They are a huge help.
