    That feels better to me. The only reason why I say that is because it feels like editorial design.

    I would say if your leaning towards an editorial style layout, you should reference and follow editorial type guides.

    I think that keeping images uniform in size to fit with in the developed grid will be important to the integrity of your site too.

    The bigger image underneath, top aligned with ALICE; maybe should be left aligned with the top image.

    I think the break in color/image (top image) is sort of creating a faux grid line--you seem to be following it, maybe deviating from the actual defined grid.

    Is there a defined grid?
