I was with my dad when he died. Mom had been at the hsopital nonstop for days and she and my wife had just left to go home for a few hours. My brother went out in the hallway to make a phone call, and within 5 seconds Dad stopped breathing. I yelled something like "NO! You can't die now!" and a few seconds later he started breathing again. When my brother came back in the room I told him what had happened. He told Dad that we would take care of Mom, and that it was ok. Dad died right then and there. Along with the birth of our daughter it was the most profound experience of my life. Dad was a brilliant artist who had lived courageously with chronic leukemia for 15 years. After he died we sold our house and now share a large barn structure with 2 separate living spaces with my mother and our daughter. It's been a privelege.
