Not read any responses yet, but I can relate.
My cat still has her front paws (hahaha, I mean claws!) and she is probably about 3 years old. I have resisted getting her declawed because it is rather inhumane to them.
It is literally like cutting a human finger just beind the first knuckle from the tip.She actually has somewhat outgrown scratching the couch. I have one of those cardboard floor scratchers, and she has a scratching post/tower she plays on. She loves scratching on cardboard, so I keep some around here and there.
My main problem with her is her hair getting everywhere.
I think the day will come that I have to get her declawed. Whenever my GF and I are married and living together one day, we'll have nicer stuff and she is afraid of furniture getting ruined.
I have seen that there is laser declawing now, you might look that up.Best of luck. Do whatever you can to not have to get rid of them. I hate the thought of not having my cat for her whole life.
