In my 26 years in Georgia, I've never seen huge crosses in front yards and racist slogans of that sort. I don't doubt that there are likely shacks deep in heart of the North mountains where some inbreds feature such yard decor, but I suppose you could find freaks like that in any southern state if you look hard enough in the obscure places. As for SUV's, minivans and the like... welcome to suburbia in any U.S. state.
Bottom line, 75% of the state is a melting pot with a good mix of people from all over. Let's face it, there are "Cletis the slack-jawed yokels" in every state. Even in NJ where I'm originally from.
I think they may even be scarier up there.
