kona - Iraq has the worlds second largest oil reserves in the world after Saudi Arabia.
Iraq is 7% of 'Americas oil' as you said. If one need the oil or not, having control over the second largest oli reserves in the world would make me laugh. And I don't even have a car.
And if you don't believe american oil companies are having huge interrests and are lobbying to put pressure on Bush to get control over some of these resources you are naive.
Why didn´t you take the oil in 91-92? Thats not an argument for not having interests in controling it now. The goal of the war is now to get rid of Saddam. Well I don´t think so, why didn't you do it in 91-92? (I am being rethoric now). The last war was about getting the Iraqis out of Kuwait (after a UN resoulution). Now we are talking about changing the government with a possibility of a 100.000 american troops staying there for years. Thats a difference.
I'm not shure if the oil is the main reason for going to war with Iraq, but I doubt it is Bush's interrest in human rights.
