I liked it. I have seen two of these so far, and enjoyed both of them.
One thing to remember is that we (designers) have been exposed to this look for some time now, but the regular "Joe" on the street has had little or no interaction with this style before. And for that group of people, which I surmise to be a large audience...the commercials are new and something that they might not have seen before in any other medium.
Try to remember that working in this industry we are exposed to imagery that the rest are not ordinarly privy to seeing, and what may be old to us is quite new to them.
