You're entitled to your opinion zackgilbert. It's not rude, either.
But I think comparisons like that are so moot these days. I don't have to had listened extensively to music by either person to know that what they are to their generation is very much as different as night and day.
I read alot about music even if it's something I don't listen to.What were Dylan's song topics and the things he stood for vs. what the same things of Conor Oberst?
True, a good portion of the next Bright Eyes album is about him moving to NYC. But how does him moving there compare to Dylan going to NYC decades ago?
What did Dylan come from, how did music allow him to have a connection with people or speak out about something?
And the same thing of Oberst?
I guess times are just so different now. Maybe it's just hard to compare people nowadays to people who were the first of a certain thing, or always stood on their own.
It's like asking who today's Elvis is, or who today's Stevie Wonder is.
