I wouldn't suggest anything on the west side of town as it gets kinda dreary with the constant fog and wind.Dump the car, get a motorcycle/scooter. It is the most motorbike-friendly town in the US. You can park a motorbike in the downtown financial district for 50 cents a day. (a car costs $25 in the same area)
I miss SF.... :-(
