I just sold my Canon D30 (3.3MP dslr) with a precise plan to buy a 10D or, if the money allows, 20D.
Then I started reading about pentax *idtDS. It has the same sensor Nikon D70 uses. It's small, the smallest dslr available. The most important thing is it accepts all pentax lenses since about 1975. There are tons of these, cheap and of excellent quality. Yes, you can pick up an old Russian or East-German manual lens with pentax mount for $15 and use it with your dslr. There's more: you get focus lock confirmation while focusing with these lenses. And with most of these, the camera can meter light.
Pentax's viewfinder is much bigger than Canon's and Nikon's, almost like in 'real' slr. To tell the truth, I hardly ever used MF with my Canon dslr because the viewfinder was too small to judge sharpness.
