Is it better just see an object or will your enjoyment of the object be hightend if you have knowlegdge about it, is the question I suppose?
I think as a designer it's good to be aware of the cultural connotations of your work, after all, we all have a understanding of the difference are between say corporate design, and design for an artistic product and design accordingly. That is an element of deconstruction because you understand the implications the effect of the design will have on the audiences' acceptance of whatever it is.
I doubt any of use would say that's nonsense
