I have used powerbooks since I got to school 3 years ago..have never done extended color work without the use of a calibrated external monitor...you have to get one...they are cheap..and will be the only way you can get consistent color and contrast...the powerbook LCD sucks...
keep it real...and save yourself the headaches by getting a monitor...add an apple pro keyboard and you have a pretty good desktop replacement.
