i have a GL-1 and use premiere (7, not 6.5, though). capture using windows movie maker or premiere's capture utility, either is fine. capture as a DV-compressed AVI.
as for editing, you want to use NTSC, 720x480, 29.97fps (aka 30 fps drop frame i guess).
use TPMGEnc and TMPG DVD Author to make the dvd. check out www.videohelp.com for tutorials aplenty.
hope that helps!
