1. Find a friend, an IT/IS kind of friend.
2.Ask him to build you a PC using the best parts out there.
3. See what you get for 3k vs. a mac for 3k.I've seen enough examples from friends out there that you don't have to have a Mac. I do like Macs, but the price points in relation to performance, its PC. Plus they're looking as pretty as Macs these days anyway. Have both, that's always good, too.
