  Fireworks is the best for slicing stuff up...especially if you use Dreamweaver. I use proxy images in Fireworks, slice them up, export to DW, then sub in my hand optimized stuff from Photoshop. Photoshop still rules for image manipulation. Plus, it is solid as heck.
