    if your design is 1 color, you are not going to have the problem.

    process black is not completely opaque. Althogh, with some work, it can be, but then photos don't come out that great.

    I f the job is one color, it will be opaque (and then the registration is meaningless).

    From what I understand your complaint is it looks like 95%, not that it actually is 95%.

    Build your illustrator artwork with more than just the black ink. Be aware, howerver, that in low-qual prints this may messup delicate artwork or negative text on black.

    I once saw a catalog someone did with motorcycle picts that had a black background. He put a %100 process background and the motorcycles ended up having darker black around them, since it was a rich 4-color black.

    In some cases you may need a 5th color.

    There is no absolute solution, you have to make decisions based on the nature of what it is you are printing, were your printing it and what you're printing it on. good luck.
