carhart and boxfresh and the other brands you mention ALREADY have a brand so they can reaffirm their (supposed) coolness with more image driven ads rather than 'buy this' ads. Though if you ask me those brands are not leading edge and not aimed at opinion formers rather they are a step down the heirarchy, aimed at early adopters and muppets.
I know what you are wanting to achieve with the ad but I think you are walking before you can crawl.
