OR is you want a great user end experience. OSX is about 800 times better than XP. And you know what? The moment MS introduces Palladium you can say "well, expandability is fucked." Like I said, once the 64-bit Power 4 based P970s are released for Mac, you'll have a beast again. I say, why bother struggling with an OS that is barely stable for me (I'm running 1.5GHz DELL, 512 RAM), when it's pretty obvious a big speed boost is coming and life can be prettier, and easier. Honestly, the MAC environment is just "pleasant."

I tend to think of Apple as brilliant software engineers, and I'm willing to wager that the power of the machine will align itself with the quality of the software soon.

And that's not to say I wouldn't kill for a Powerbook. Take into account the advantages of shorter, fewer pipelines and RISC-based processing. Don't just pay attention to the numbers, but that's not to say that a new stacked DELL won't benchpress the more expensive Mac. Again, this'll change soon.

Like I said, I hate Windows. I hate XP. I have to patch my machine up from troublesome
"holes" all the time. Honestly, security in XP is pathetic.

In any event, Intel is faster, don't get me wrong. But the only way I'd prefer it to buying a new Apple is if OSX went x86.

I think quite a few of the posts here are pretty juvenile--I'd dismiss them and decide if you want power or comfort. 'Luck.
