Stroke Sizes:
Depending on the version of illustrator if you do a Object > Transform there is a selection for "stroke and effects" Otherwise if you use the scale tool and CS there is a selection in the Transform window options for scale and effects.Image size:
It's just how it renders, being vector it's dealing in maths right? and we all learned that there are unresolvable or runon equations like 33.3333+ etc. So sometimes whatever your x and y plus your graphic size results in a unresolvable equation when it comes to the render on your screen. So you get gaps when there shouldn't be gaps, and vice versa. But with that is the power to absolutely define the positioning of your elements using X and Y settings in transform. So that gap you're seeing is there for a reason it's not exact.
