Work in NC?

i'm in raleigh, NC now and i've been here for almost a year. i can't wait to leave, either! i'm originally from charleston, sc. despite the fact that charleston was a relatively small place, there was always something going on (and the beach was a ten minute drive.)
NC is just too "dead" for me. not necessarily the job market, just every day life. i don't know what you're into, but there isn't much to do around here.
anyway, i constantly see positions opening for web developers, etc., however the only design companies around here that catch my eye deal almost entirely with print work and rarely hire new people. you might be able to make a decent living doing freelance work for companies local and abroad until you get something a little more permanent lined up.
like anything though it's just my opinion. i'm sure there are some people that either have lived here or live here now that would swear it's the best place they've ever lived...
