Its a bit expensive, but I use it (alongside with other services) because of the good integration of iDisk, Backup, and a good IMAP mail service, with Webmail (now suports throw-away aliases too.
You can buy 1GB of space now and split it up anytime any way you like between mail storage and iDisk.
But for backing up a lot of stuff, you are better with a big Firewire disk and a copy of Retrospect. I'm backing up to 4 disks and a NAS server in two locations, and cc'ing normal and system-generated email to 3 different IMAP mail accounts, but then we're a bit paranoid about not losing stuff...
