I'm on a PC at the moment because Motroloa dropped the ball on the G5. IBM's scaled down Power4, the p970s are alitvec-compatible. Anyway, I have every faith they'll be in the newest Macs to come mid/late 2003. 64-bit addressing, I'm waiting for the new Macs...patiently. If I were you I'd put 2,000 more together and get an Apple beast later this year. ;)
But you buy a Mac for environment, not power (God, I hope this changes soon). Honestly, I really just find working on a Mac so much more pleasant--OSX is a joy.
It's really just, well, up to you. :)
