I can't imagine how you would be able to automatically convert for example a song in .wav format into .mid which would work on a polyfone mobile phone... Recreating a song with the available phone midi tones is possible, but you'll just get a rework of the original song with the crappy midi sounds.
If a phone is able to deal with 'regular' audio files it's a different thing though.
