hmm ive been using:
logic 6 (this is the shit)
Ableton Live (also very cool)

garagebandosX
but if your G3 is struggling with Garageband these are prob no use to you either, might have to look at stepping up your machine
also there are lots of threads in the PVn about this, if you have a search
