    rather than a raise ask for performance bonus..

    set a % of your salary and ask for goals to meet (or set your own goals that are approved).

    if you meet it than you get money, if you dont, well you dont..

    BUT if you are going to do this, revise your employment contract, so they cant back out when you meet your goals.
