  the duplicates will have black dots next to them. an easy thing to do is go here:

  homefolder(house icon)/library/fonts then copy those fonts to a folder on your desktop or somewhere then trash the ones in the actual font folder. this will give you a chance to start over in FontBook and only add the ones you'll really need. by doing this you'll clean out the fonts you installed and not effect the ones for the system.

  also in font book, go to the preference menu FontBook and check Always Copy Fonts.
