Actually, it was the opposite of a marketing ploy. the movie is “presented by” Quentin because Miramax never wante to bring it to the US. Miramax felt that the film was too risky—however, Quentin thought it was a masterpiece and persuaded Miramax to bring it to the US. The stipulation Miramax made was that they agreed to bring it to the US only if it was “Presented by” Quentint. that way, if the movie was the failure that Miramax anticipates, Quentin will be the party that it appears is responsible, not Miramax.
So, give credit where credit is due, Quentin is responsible for the film coming to the US, even if it is a couple years late.
