jet li got famous via wang fai hong series.
where as tony leung like may others in HK started out in TV series and movies.
jet li is mainland china, but his career really started because of the HK market it self.
most movies that come out of china goes through sensorship so they tend to be artistic with no politial background (so they are mainly martal arts films).
