In architecture schools the computer is still a tool that comes at the very end of a design. The art of sketching and drawing is still seen as the foundation of architecture. The main argument is ofcourse that with a computer you are unable to draw anywhere anytime directly and therefor is not benefiting to your creativity.
How this applies to other forms of design I don't know. It very much depends what kind of webdesigner you are. IA Designers ofcourse have little use of sketching where a more print-like webdesigner might profit more from it.
