haha zedvox - my boyfriend is indian and one of the first things his parents asked him about me is whether i was muslim or not. my mum is the same, i used go out with a muslim guy and she freaked out about it (she's from sabah, east malaysia - the only christian state so they grow up with this fear that the muslim men are going to steal all their women). Still, that generation has grown up with different experiences from us.
The best thing is that although my boyfriends' parents sound like awful bigots when they talk about islam, they are the ones who got me onto Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. also they used to put up zakhir hussain and other artists in their house in bristol in the 70s when that music scene was very young in the uk.
music crosses all boundaries, that's what makes it great.
