    Try a few more font choices that represents the technology and industry. Something more industrial looking. Maybe Eurostile. I noticed the 3d gear they have is 8 wedges/--maybe simplifying the gear shape will help. Try a different position with the gear/sprocket on the left side. Try the word Gear smaller and underneath like in their existing logo. Try a more grayed down blue or silver gray color to get the metal look. Good luck.
