    Ouch...
    This thread is full of hate.

    I've tried something similar using PNGs and had difficulty on older Macs (PCs seemed to handle it better). Not really a PC plug (I use a mac personally), but something you might want to keep in consideration.

    Using the soften edges control works well, but I've had trouble when applying it to a pixel based font (ie: MiniML).

    So pick your poison. Sorry I don't have any other suggestions.
