Luxembourg, between Germany and France, a beautiful city and country. Worth the stop, walk around the Grund, the shopping district your wife will love.
Barcelona rocks in Spain. Goto Normandy in France, actually stay in Cain. Then ask around, at a fish and chips kind of place (not french) where there is really good fondue. I don't remember the name of the fondue place, but the fish and chips told me where it was, it was the best ever.
And, in France, don't speak french, Canadian's do not speak French, they will laugh at you if you try :-)
