Get in with one and find out who their list of clients are and solicit work for them at a price 90% of what they would pay the agency. Ask some firends who have gone through the agencies where they worked, google for the names of the agencies in your area and you should hit a couple reumes with names of companies on there. I did the aganc when i first started out because I didn't kow an better. They were taking $145/hr and paying me $23. Then I got an agency job for a while, but now I just hit up all the clients I remember them trying to send me to and talked about with me when I was there. I'm geting $75-$130/hr now, and I can work wherever I want. And it was after the requisite 6 month "waiting period" so there's nothing they can do. Yay me.
