don't ask for a raise, ask for a *salary adjustment*
do a little research on salaries in your area, chances are you are underpaid. and citing a salary adjustment affords you the wiggle room of requesting more than the standard 4-5% raise.if that doesnt work, do the fight club office scene on him.
