If you want to go with a Q on it's own then fine, but you've chosen a difficult route as simplicity corresponds with difficulty when it comes to logos. From what you've got so far I guess the forms in 2/3 could reflect a monitor... I reckon the idea of mixing pixels with curves could be a good route as it reflects the zooming in and out of re-touching work. I'd work with a pixel body and a curved tail almost like the flourish of a pen, and work it in colour. Also make sure you tie in the typeface you use for the company etc. and don't just whack it on. To be honest, I'd get a designer to do it, other wise, good luck!. Hope that helps, and 'amateur night' is a lame comment for anyone who posts their work...
