When I was just out of high school (before I was professional and had any real skills) I used to have a terrible time getting even stupid little jobs.
One time I interviewed at Sears to stock inventory. She asked can you lift heavy objects? I reply without thinking (in a wiseguy accent), "yeah, I'm not trying to break my back or nothing." Obviously I didn't get the job.
Another time I interview at Target (I didnt really prepare as I had a bad fever the day before and school afterwards)
and showed up in a crappy T-shirt and shorts. I'm suprised she even bothered to inteview me.I'm actually really good at interviews now.
