let me qualify cuz re-reading my last post, it was a bit brusque...
i think Jesus and Christianity is way cool,
I think skaters who believe in Jesus are cool.
My conflict with Christianity or any religion for that matter is when it strikes up a relationship with mass media and the methods in which it sells product.
Something felt weird about that website, kind of trending up and selling, and Stephen Baldwin wearing lots of camo and featuring himself to pimp the product...ugh..
Christianity to me has always been a personal choice, so if I sound cynical about the mass marketing of Christianity, America is a great place to be cynical about it. Granted I am not an evangelical and the last services I attended were Quaker meeting
I mean the fact the Mel Gibson is selling souvenir nails seems distasteful, and Rocco and Globe brands is distasteful (have you seen their website and all of the corporate hegemony it spiels).
I would hate to exploit both things that I think are sacred and should be beyond trendy marketing tactics...both skateboarding and Christianity have something in common for me and its that they offer a sense of hope and idealism and I'd hate to see either sullied through capitalization...
anyways...
