ok things I was into and formed my visual eye perhaps..
skateboarding, powell decks by VC Johnson in particular.
Graffiti, heavily.
Arcades, I lived in arcades during the 80's, fuck knows how much ca$h i wasted on games like New Zealand Story, Mario, 720, Crime Fighters, Mr Wardner, fruit machines etc.
stickers, I used to go out at night and steal surf stickers off cars and camper vans, I had hundreds and would sell them to kids at school. That ties in with the logos that I used to constantly scribble on my school books.
Cartoons, Cities of Gold, Dungeons and Dragons, Battle of the Planets, Pac Land, cartoons were great, love em.
Neon advertising lights. seriously, I really wanted to go to Japan when I was like 15 because in my opinion they had the best and most prolific neon lighting.
T-shirts, I screened my first few of t-shirt back in 1990, one was the old school bbc tv logo and just the big 'tv' part on the back, everyone took the piss and said I was a secret tranny haha, one was a pixelated dove like you would get on E's and some others of wierd logos I had made, all taken from things around me or hijacked somehow.
and now I have to get back to work.. maybe more later.
