I don't think job equality is a funny thing, lot's of people are kept-out from succeeding and ostracised for petty reasons, and lot's of people, average joes, whatnot are hired and promoted even if they're not the best. It's an unfair measure sure, but i t's to counter thoulsands of regular unfair pratices in the first place.
I don't know if there's sarcasm in this topic or anything, but I think you did good if they didn't want to hire any just cause of that, it's a start.
