Having a job and being able to work is a privledge.
A painful one.You should work at work - and find joy and contentment at home.
If you like your job, you're very lucky.
But if you're trying to strike out on your own - I would say try to do both at the same time until it becomes impossible to do your day job.
I'm kind of in the same boat - I want to do my own thing - but I really, really just need paychecks.
