so far 2 MT people have called me are extremely nice and want to fix things. they seem like a very satisfaction-oriented business that CARES what people have to say after they cancel..
but the boss still says "lose the slow host".....i am off to the airport to fedex a package WHEEE.

ps - the explanation of a 1x1 pixel gif on an index page making a DIRECT LINK to a 1.4 meg file go slow needs a little work.....
