i disagree about the brit/english thing. in my experience people from most parts of the country call themselves british, whereas in the south east they tend to be 'english'. but maybe i'm wrong.
and that scot/scotch post. so you are unable to understand why 'pakistani' is fine, but 'paki' will offend. yet you can understand perfectly well that 'scot' is fine, and 'scotch' offends??
anyway, excellent thread. i especially liked that bit where that one guy came in and cleared everything up.
