Growing up in the late 70s/80s/90s, if I turned on the radio, it was mainly playing rock. Boston, The Who, Zeppelin, Rush, YES, Steve Miller Band, etc. Of course there were elements of the music that I liked and appreciated, but I grew so tired of hearing it, that it was just forgotten.
Lately, I've been craving to hear those bands again. It's hard to explain, but I needed to hear it. The sonic tones, raw guitars, bad ass drummers, diverse song compositions, big choruses....I also think I miss the shared experience of everyone knowing who all of these bands were, we all pretty much listened to the same songs.
The stuff sounds amazing and I made a great playlist to play with my boys. To their young ears, it sounds old, but they dig it for the most part. Ramble on!
