Maybe; If you like Netlify's build setup and features then I'd suggest it over Github. Netlify is hosting with a pretty unique feature set and Github is all about development repos with hosting bolted-on.
For years I used Netlify's free tier for testing a bunch of things like 11ty forks, while also running a handful of static hand-coded sites. It was all fine, but I moved my stuff elsewhere when Netlify raised their prices and started to downplay/reduce the free tier (which is for "non-commercial" things BTW).
Like most things it depends on what you need for whatever you're building; Repos or a more hosting-centric model? I'd at least give Netlify a test drive and check it out.
