    Musk's fundamental problem is that he's alienating Tesla's core customer base of upper middle class liberals. Trump supporters are unlikely to buy electric cars in large numbers even if Trump does an infomercial for them.

    All of Musk's actions in politics, now and in the future, are going to end up further alienating and antagonizing Tesla's potential customers. Then as the value of the company falls, he lashes out more and more at this same group of people, calling them traitors and terrorists.
