So.... I've been in the habit of using Lacie rugged drives, as the production industry seems to use them as standard... But I swear they are the biggest piece of shit ever made, with their usb plugs always becoming loose and fragile like it's soldered on with blu tac. Like an idiotic rat in a lab cage, I keep going back, but its happened yet again on a drive only a few months old....

Any suggestions for a durable drive that you can actually travel with and work from on the move?

    • Lacie are shit. Samsung T5 seem to have a good reputation. SSD better able to handle shocks. being lighter may put less stress on connectors.monNom
    • It may be more cost effective to just buy a M.2 enclosure and a gumstick ssd to go with it... that's probably equally effective as the samsungmonNom
    • I used Lacie for a few years back in like '99, wasn't too happy, been using Western Digital ever sinceYakuZoku
    • I mostly get rubberized Samsung T* drives from folks who do shoots I edit. No complaints, but some models have been known to get corrupted in the past.evilpeacock
    • I use a couple of 2TB Samsung SSDs (a T5 and a T7). I take them everywhere and they've been solid.MrT
    • Been pretty happy with 4TB and 2TB Sandisk SSDs for backups and archives.sab

    • Yep, Samsung T SSDs. lost so much data to Lacie drives, swore off them 15 years ago. Still use big mechanical G Tech (Sandisk) drives to back up the SSDskingsteven
    • I've been using WD since always and I never had one single problem.oey_oey
    • PRO-G40 SSD. I heart thunderbolt.thenohero
