I now understand why he "fucked up " Twitter.

He didn't. He bought the most powerful political propaganda tool, and pushed right wing MAGA ideology. In a really blatant way.

Next thing you know, Trump gets reelected, in my opinion largely because of Twitter pushing scaremongering hateful shit onto everyone's phone multiple times a day, for a couple of years.

He basically used Twitter to buy Trump the election, and if the platform was destroyed in the process, so be it. An election is worth a lot more.

Now, surprise surprise, he's riding around with Donny Tramp and being given power to make policies that will very obviously suit him.

What do y'all think? Am I nuts? Should this be posted in the conspiracy of the day thread?

    • Nah, not really. Sort of but not really. He bought twitter for many reasons. It’s not much different than any billionaire buying a newspaper. Typica playbook.
      ********
    • He bought twitter because A) he didn’t like the way it was going, and his ego told him he could fix it and probably turn a profit.
      ********
    • B) he’s a bit immature, terribly insecure and addicted to admiration. To him, owning Twitter is like being king of the internet. And C) he could afford it.
      ********
    • Erm, so you don't think being king of the internet, per se, can give you more of a platform to promote Trump than legacy media outlets?Ianbolton
    • He keeps spouting how Twitter is the Town square where anything goes while adding a shit ton of bots. There are thousands of Elon Musk-esque bots on thereIanbolton
    • Spunking out disinformation and misinformation every single day now. And then there's the "look at all the libtards leaving'. He knows what he's doingIanbolton
    • Online speech should be moderated. If you wouldn't say it to someones face in real life, then you shouldn't typing it. But ya know, cunts love free speechIanbolton
    • meh - no-one is forced to read twatter - those that do deserve / want everything they gethans_glib
    • it used to be a decent community website where i could follow a ton of things here in Leeds as I never used Facebook. It still is, but it's difficult to ignoreIanbolton
    • the political shouting of MAGAIanbolton
    • I have left Twitter almost completely, because of him. But I can't ignore the fact that there are still a LOT of people on there, daily, getting pushed MAGAProjectile
    • People who didn't give a F about womens sports or young people transitioning, but now believe it's the reason their kids is a brat and their wife hates themProjectile
    • its just one piece of a larger puzzle, its not the only reason Trump wonHAL9001
    • Let's all be honest, Trump won because he loves MacDonald's. The dinner of champions. Usain Bolt won gold medals on chicken nuggetsIanbolton
    • I think you are nuts. Twitter purchase more likely about: 1) everything app to copy WeChat. Critical mass of users already. 2) owned training data for AI.monNom
    • 2024 votes for trump were comparable to 2020. So unlikely twitter made any real difference. There’s probably a starlink play in the future somewhere as well.monNom
    • IE a global payment and communication platform that is accessible anywhere in the world through a dedicated satellite network. Probably with its own crypto coinmonNom
    • Oh and robo taxis, maybe with Optimus delivery robots... I don’t think anything he does is disconnected.monNom
    • Yeah he knows what he’s doing but I don’t think it was a master plan from before he bought it
